Rhodes is the most magical island and you are going to spend a lot of time at the sea, swimming in the water and feeling the sand between the toes . The village is filled with tavernas, shops, markets and a whole lot of history, and you’ll certainly be kept busy.
One of the fantastic things to include is a day tour of the northern side of the island, in a 4 x 4 Land Rover, exploring the mountains and the more traditional villages. You’ll see things that have remained unchanged for centuries and go off the beaten path. The east side of Rhodes is mountainous and the views of the island and the ocean are excellent. Do not forget your cameras! The first village stop will be at Columbia where you can wander around for a little, enjoy a Greek coffee and learn about the German Italian war route which you are driving right through!
As you continue on your adventure you’ll pass ancient chapels and monasteries, before visiting Kritinia, a small and traditional village. Enjoy some leisure time and then lunch will be under the trees in a typical Greek village square.
You will need to take good walking shoes with you, a hat (it always gets hot in Rhodes in summer) but also a windbreaker or something warm . It can get chilly in the forests and mountains. This is a trip that is for anyone who wants to do something different, go off the beaten path, enjoy the adventure of a jeep tour, and also see things you don’t often see on the rest of the island. Greek traditional life is slow, leisurely and real. There are plenty of stop on the day things to do and teens and adults will love the excitement.
