We love the beach in the village of Fanes, on Rhodes Island.  It’s a long and flat beach, quiet and peaceful, with a harbour filled with old fishing boats and a couple of luxury yachts.  The restaurants and Greek tavernas are divine, the village is quiet, the locals are welcoming and Fanos is a great place to stay.  Plus, it’s a real haven for water sport lovers.

People come to Fanes to windsurf and kite surf.  The sailing is good, the swimming is perfect and there is always space on the beach.  Take your towel, book, sunhat and sunblock and get into Greek Island life!  Fanes is filled with small guesthouses and bungalows – there are no high rise hotels here -and the town is simple, small, quiet and pretty historic too.  It’s traditionally Greek and has managed to hold on to its local feel. Rhodes Town is just 25 minutes away, the town of Tholos is nearby and a wonderful place to visit – laid back, bars, restaurants and good shopping – and the ideal spot to make your base.  Swim, eat, sail, and when you’re ready, hire a car or a bike and explore the island.  And the Temple of Apollo is just ten minutes way.
