We think that the ideal Island holiday is when you spend a lot of time swimming, a lot of time in the sunshine, a lot of time wandering the village, eating ice-cream, having delicious meals and then of course, having activity too. And there’s nothing like a little horse riding to make you feel fantastic, especially if its on a beach. The feel of the sun on your shoulders, the wind in your hair, the waves lapping – horse riding on a beach is unrivalled, no matter which country or island you are on.
A horse riding tour in Rhodes starts on Dimitri’s Ranch in the south. Your guide will have collected you from your hotel. You will be introduced to the farmers, and the horses, and after a short introduction tour – or orientation if you are a new rider – you will hop on. If you need help hopping on, no problem!
You’ll take a gentle ride down south, first through farmland and gentle hills, until you hit the beach. The horses will rest int the shade while you can swim in the stunning waters and get a refreshment and snack – horse riding makes you hungry – from the beach bar. There is a fairly long break in the sun and the sea before you continue to the village of Arnitha. This old village is too pretty and you will have lunch in a courtyard under the trees, the most fabulous Greek lunch.
After lunch you can meet the local Greek farmers who will talk to you about their fruits and vegetables and introduce you to a Greek fruit cocktail. You will return to the farm and then back to your hotel.
Young kids are welcome to ride the ponies on the ranch. It’s a fab day!
